I remember as a kid, listening to 1010 WINS radio station and I would hear my cousin, Brenda Box, doing her news reporting for Associated Press. She was one of the first people to pique my interests in media. Till this day, she’s still working the newsroom at NPR.
Two years ago she was diagnosed w/pancreatic cancer & the outlook was bleak. Next month she is walking in the 5k Purple Stride DC for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness. She’s been chronicling her strides on her personal blog http://boxilla.blogspot.com/. Although she’s taking radiation therapy 5 days a week now, she’s determined to still complete the walk in June.
